Superman Confidential [Ongoing]  Superman Confidential is a monthly comic book series from DC Comics, which debuted on November 1st, 2006. Superman Confidential will feature stories of the superhero Superman by rotating creative teams and is set in the early years of the character’s career. The stories will illustrate key moments in the character’s past such as first meetings, critical decisions, alliances, confrontations and events that would shape him as the character he is today. The stories in Confidential will be more in continuity than previous efforts like [Only registered users can see links. ]: Legends of the Dark Knight and Legends of the DC Universe. JLA: Black Baptism The Sopranos hit the DC universe and start to disable magicians...  You've got these Sopranos rip-offs, right, but they are all demons/devils/what have you, so they call themselves the [Only registered users can see links. ]. They were all really pissed off in the Day of Judgment miniseries last year that so many of them were killed/vanquished/whatever, so now they are hitting back by gradually wiping out magic-wielding characters in the DC Universe. The Diablos are being directed by some as yet unknown force, their field leader is a succubus called Anita Soulfeeda (yes, well...) and just as she is about the steal the soul force from Zatanna, Supes and Plastic Man arrive to, er, save the day. Strangely enough, the Diablos then leave. There's only two of the JLA present, they have weapons that can bring down even [Only registered users can see links. ](he gets shot as the Diablos flee), frankly they could've sorted out Supes and Plas very quickly, and rushed Zatanna off elsewhere to finish off ripping her soul out. Superman: A Nation Divided
 Writer: Eduardo Barreto, Artist: Roger Stern magine if Superman's rocket had landed in Kansas a century earlier. Imagine the young Atticus Kent being raised to despise slavery and slaveholders. Imagine discovering for the first time that you are invunerable when a rebel cannon ball slams into your gut- and it just makes you mad.... This is my favorite Superman graphic novel of recent years. There is just something right about combining an icon like Superman with Lincoln, Grant, Sherman, Frederick Douglas- it works. Plus there is the surprise ending that sets up what should be an excellent sequel set in the wild west.... [Only registered users can see links. ] |
