You are correct i didn't say you used his code , just the .dll . What i did say was that 90 percent of the yahoo programmers are using the public login module he coded and released with the ymsg12.dll ,

So let me reclarify I didn't mean you used his code, for 1 thing you code in delphi and his examples are all coded in vb6 .

I was saying he coded a module.bas ( vb file) that alot of people ( say 90% ) are still using (cause around 90% of the yahoo programmers don't have a clue how the encryption (encoding/hashing) or login work or even what a byte or integer is for that matter)

My post was not a attack on you or your abilities as a programmer, what i was trying to point out was he created a new .dll and released it with a module.bas file to demostrate how to use it . and its what most people have been using since that time , and in that example he used a Const to store the 11 , so most of the people just needed to change that single byte 11 and their logins would work again.

ok that's better.... But deepthawt did not code the authentication routines he used the code supplied by GAIM

People took the code which was provided open source to GAIM and converted it to Perl, Java and other little projects...

that's the Java one, but the point is, Deepthawt like myself coded the login routines, the routines to extract the salt key, the difference between myself and him is simple, he took the source code and compiled it directly into yahelite, i did not have that luxury nor i don't fancy spending 3 days porting the source code into Object Pascal sure it might be easier for the user but, the thanks id get would not be worth the time spent...
