i found a solution to enable stereo mix on a dell pc with a sigmatel sound card

hey guys i just thought id like to share this... i found a way to enable stereo mix on a dell xp pc that has a sigmatel sound card....from my understanding dell initially locked most of the pc from having stereo mix but most recently dell released updates for some dell pc models to enable stereomix unfortunately not on the dimension c521..anyways ill explain the procedure if first you may want to download from the update and see if it works for your pcs now remember this is only for xp operating systems dells vista has a total different issue altogether here is the upgrade [Only registered users can see links. ] if this doesnt work then try what i did to get stereo mix working
click on start, run type regedit then go to the following path [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEset\SYSTEM\CurrentControl\Contro l\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\008\Settings\filter\rear]

take note 008 is my path your path may be 0015 or 0017 but nonetheless settings is what you want to be looking for and that you should lead you to the right direction.

after this in rear you want to add 2 new binary values and modify two others that are already on the list.right click on rear & add DigitalInputMonitor after creating this value add the binary value of 01 by right clicking on this new value..then right click again on rear and add the second binary value of DigitalStereoMix then right on this new value and a binary value of 01.

after you get this done there should be 2 already existing values in the list that would need to be changed.....the first one MasterControlsIndipendentMixerInputs the binary value of this value would be changed from 01 to 00 and EnableInputMonitor would be changed from 00 to 01...after all this is done restart the pc and stereo mix should be shown as an option you should be able to record streaming audio audacity should work and you should also play music in chat without using the mic.

that program didn't work on my computer it say that this is not the correct audio draiver for this system the intaller will now exit by the way my computer is dell xps m1330 if u have some thing work on it i'll be greatfull
