If you open a program and get an error (usually runtime error), then you're probably missing a file.
Most programs are created in Visual Basic, or similar language, and if you don't have VB on your computer, you will need some of the files that were used to create the program. Some of the most popular missing files are: actskin4, comct232, COMCTL32, comdlg32, CompControls, E-F_YMSGLogin2, EvID4226Patch212-de, FM20, FM20ENU, FUSIONButtons, KewlButtonz, LVbuttons, MadBeyond, madbeyondocx, mscomct2, mscomctl, MSCOMM32, msdxm, msinet, MSVBVM50, mswinsck, prjChameleonocx, QVoxV5.ocx, RichTx32, tabctl32, vbrun60sp5, vbskpro, VBUProgress, YMFR : Register missing Files, YMSG12ENCRYPT, - Locate and Download the missing file. This file is usually a dll or ocx file. Many of the most popular files can be found on this site, in the download section. The file will come zipped in either .zip or .rar. - Unzip/unrar the file. - Depending on what version of windows you are running is dependent on where you are going to put this file. If you have Windows XP, 2000 or NT †“ place it in the System32 folder If you have Windows ME or 98 or 96 †“ place it in the System folder Click on My Computer Click on C:/ Click on Windows Click on Either System or System32 (depending on your Version) Now move the missing file to this directory. *Note depending on the operating system, (i.e. Windows NT, you may not see Windows directory, it may be called WINNT, or similar). - Now that you have it copied, you'll need to register it. Click on Start Click on Run Then either type or copy/paste this: regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system32\filename.ocx OR if you are putting it in the System Folder type this regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system\filename.ocx You should see a box pop up that says 'registration succeeded. And you're done. You should now be able to open the program without any errors, unless you are missing another file, then you need to go thru the process again. You will NOT have to register the same file for every program. Once the files are registered, it will apply to all programs that need it. IMPORTANT NOTE: There are files and programs that contain a bunch of Popular missing files, or ALL VB files in a GROUP, etc. Be very careful when downloading and registering ALL these files at once. If you copy over a file that already exists in your System file, it could cause an error in windows, which states. 'Some of Windows operating files have been replaced with older versions, please put in your Windows CD to restore the original files. At that point you'll need to either put in your Windows CD (if you have one), or do a 'go back or system restore'. ONLY replace the files that are actually missing. |
