Motley Crue - Theatre of Pain (1985)



Backing away from the mild pseudo-Satanic posturing on parts of Shout at the Devil in favor of a more glammed-up image, M?tley Cr?e really began to hit their commercial stride with Theatre of Pain, which broke them on MTV with the power ballad "Home Sweet Home" and a remake of Brownsville Station's "Smokin' in the Boys' Room"; the latter also landed them on the Top 40 singles chart for the first time. Overall, the guitar riffing sounds less heavy metal and more pop-metal; similarly, the sound of the record is slicker and more arranged, polished for mainstream acceptance and airplay.

Fra Lippo Lippi - Songs (1985)

Fra Lippo Lippi is a New Wave/synth pop band from Norway. They had several hits in the 1980s, such as "Shouldn't Have To Be Like That", and recorded a new album as late as 2002. Their band name is apparently taken from Robert Browning's poem about the Renaissance painter.

Originally influenced by post-punk bands like Joy Division, the Norwegian duo Fra Lippo Lippi had gradually developed its own acoustic, piano-based sound by the time of this album, first released in 1985, which recalls the later work of bands like Talk Talk. This edition, a miniature CD facsimile of a vinyl album, also contains a live set, CRASH OF LIGHT.
