Once the Voice Recorder is open, as shown below, follow threw step-by-step simple instructions on how to Play, (Loop Playing), Clear, and Record with the Voice Recorder.

How to Play .Wav’s:

Run a test first…

All copies of Y!Hook comes with one audio recording Attention.wav.

Then press the Play > button under the ChatRoom Control, next too the Stop X button, as shown below.

While you are playing a recording, you can also loop play the .wav. By ticking the [] Loop Playing check box.
This will play the .wav over and over, until you untick it again and the file finishes. As shown below.

How to Clear .Wav’s:

After you play a recording. Make sure you Clear files you have played. By pressing the Clear button next to the Save button as shown in below image.

This is important , if you Do Not want to record over your current recorded .wav’s.

How to Record .Wav’s:

While in chat, if you still have not got your Voice Recorder open, then open as instructed above.

While someone is on the microphone, talking or playing a song, tick the check box [] Record ChatRoom.

(It is as simple as that!)

How to Save Record .Wav’s:

Now after you have Untick [] Record ChatRoom check box, you need to save the following .wav you have recorded.

(Make sure you do not click anything else or Clear as this is where you can lose what you have just recorded.)

Up the top left corner is a long white text box, with numbers and words PM-VcLog (Or the previous file you played Attention ), where the Save and Clear button is. Click into the white text box where it states PM-VcLog, or Attention (the file you previously played), remove the text and type in the file name you wish to label your new .wav recording as.

Then click Save!

The file you have recorded and labelled will now be in your Voice Recorder, under the “Filename”, “Size”, “Type”, and “Date” .

Then, as before when you tested how to Play a recording.

Now double click the new file name, in this case “My First Recording.wav” and play as before.

This is how you Play, (Loop Playing), Clear, and Record a .wav.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next tutorial, will explain how to use the DTS Player button.
(The Sound Mixed button allows you to adjust your sound levels within your computer).
Default Re: How to use the Y!Hook - Voice Recorder
How to use the Y!Hook - Voice Recorder - Part 2 - DTS Player.
Open the Voice Recorder. Once it is open, as shown below, follow threw step-by-step instructions on how to use the DTS Player with the Voice Recorder.
How to use the DTS Player:
While you are in chat, as you need to be connected to voice, you can use the DTS Player to play back .wav's to yourself. This is so you can only hear the .wav and no one else. Even though your .wav is playing, it will not display in chat, nore key up on the microphone.
Now double click a .wav in your list, as explained in the First Tutorial. Then click the Play > button, under the DTS Player, so you can hear what you have recorded and saved. To stop just simply click on the Stop X button, if you do not wish to hear it all again. As shown below.
This feature is good for when you have many .wav recordings and you may have forgotton what the file is called, or what the .wav is about. So that you dont play it too the whole chat room, you can go threw your list and play them to yourself, till you find the one you are looking for.
(And thats how you use the DTS Player, It's that simple!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A little history here:- You may have wondered or even ask yourself, as sometimes we do , why is this called the DTS Player (or DTS Editor). Well in the first developments of Y!Hook, all the audio file formats were actual .DTS files before they were changed to .Wav file formats, and I guess the name just stayed and sticked with the Voice Recorder.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later tutorial I will explain how to use the DTS Editor button.
(The Sound Mixed button allows you to adjust your sound levels within your computer).
Default Re: How to use the Y!Hook - Voice Recorder
How to use the Y!Hook - Voice Recorder - Part 3 - DTS Editor.
Once the Voice Recorder is open, as shown below, follow threw step-by-step instructions on how to use the DTS Editor with the Voice Recorder.
How to use the DTS Editor:
This function is used only when you wish to shorten a recording you have made.
So after you have recorded a .wav double click the .wav as if you wish to play it into chat, or threw the DTS Player, as mentioned in First Tutorial and above. Or find one you have already recorded in your file list.
In this tutorial, we are going to be using the Attention.wav again, and as you see the Attention.wav is 174 Lines and 16.4 KB.
Now if you take a look at the screen shot below, DTS Editor, the section with the red square line around.. You will see a few different functions.
A Start: & End: slide bar, two text boxes, Play Section >-<, and Save Audio Portion buttons.
If you still have the Attention.wav highlighted as above image, you should see in the two text boxes with numbers, [0] & [174].
These are the number of Lines of Data (wont go into full details of what exactly this means, as this may make things confusing, but it is pointed out as you will need to sort of understand how to split the .wav you are trying to edit with the number of Lines).
Still looking at the above image, under the Export.Wav/Import.Wav buttons you will see a number 18. This is where I have stopped the Voice Recorder, as I wish to only obtain the first part of the Attention.wav, where the lady's voice says "Attention".
Now this is the tricky or maybe more confusing part..
Using the Play > button under the ChatRoom Control section where the Attention word is written in the top left corner, click on the Play > button, to play the .wav. (personally I recommend using the Play > button to play the .wav into chat, as it will play the .wav and the number of Lines, will flow with the .wav to where exactly you wish to stop, by clicking the Stop X button. Or otherwise you can click on the Play Section >-< to hear the audio.)
Now say you have found the part of audio where you wish to end it.
You now have a "start and stop" number of Lines (the beginning of the .wav, to the middle of the .wav. For example, in this case the start of the Attention.wav being, [0] & the stop section [18].) Lets continue on...
Looking at the below image, you now need to edit the number of Lines by leaving the start of the audio at [0] and the stop section at [18] for this example.
You will see the End: slide bar has been moved. You do not need to move this if you know the ending number of Lines you wish to enter in, just simply enter the number [18] where the [174] was, and click Play Section >-<, this will only play the portion between [0] and [18].
If you are happy with the portion of audio, click the Save Audio Portion button. This will now save the audio with the new file name AttentionEDIT.wav.
The other option on how to do this, once you get more familiar with the DTS Editor, is moving the End: slide bar to where you feel you may want it, and continually pressing the Play Section >-< and then sliding the End: slide bar and pressing the Play Section >-< button again, to where you may want it too stop.
(And thats how you use the DTS Editor, to save portions of the .wav from the start to middle, or removing the end of a .wav that was over recorded...)
Now say you want to save from the middle to the end and remove the begining, well same instructions as above, but this time you move the Start: slide bar, and leave the End: slide bar where it is.. Keep checking the audio with the Play Section >-<, till your happy with the portion of audio you have..
Once your happy either way.. Click Save Audio Portion button, and as mention before it will save the new edited .wav in the list below as.. AttentionEDIT.wav.
And there you go, you have now used the DTS Editor and have edited your .wavs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Later tutorial I will explain how to use the Export.Wav, Import.Wav buttons.

(The “Sound Mixed” button allows you to adjust your sound levels within your computer).

New Post Re: How to use the Y!Hook - Voice Recorder

How to use the Y!Hook - Voice Recorder - Part 4 - Export.Wav, and Import.Wav.

Open the Voice Recorder. Once it is open, as shown below, follow threw step-by-step instructions on how to use the Export.Wav, and Import.Wav buttons, with the Voice Recorder.

How to use the Export.Wav:

Export.Wav is used for sending an audio .wav to another location within your computer, that you have recorded. (Another words, exporting means the sending of data to another location).

If you have found a .wav you wish to export, simply double click the .wav as you have done so before to play into chat. Then click the Export.Wav button, this will open a Browse for Folder box, where you can find a new location to export the .wav too. This will now copy the .wav to this new location, as shown below.

This can be handly if you dont wish to go into the DTS Folder within Y!Hook and locate the file you wish to copy to another location, you can simply look for it within your Voice Recorder and follow the instructions above.

(That is how you use the Export.Wav button).

How to use the Import.Wav:

Note: Firstly I would like to say.. The file format needs to be a PCM Wave File. By checking what file format the audio .wav is that you wish to import, just simply right mouse click the audio/.wav and go to properties and check the Summary, as shown below.

(If the audio you wish to import is not PCM Wave File, then I am sorry to say it will be too confusing and way off topic to explain. So unless you know how to change audio formats then I strongly suggest you DO NOT import any .wavs).

Import.Wav is used for obtaining an audio .wav from another location within your computer, that you wish to place into your Voice Recorder. (Another words, importing means the receiving of data from another location).

Looking at the image below, you will see that after you have clicked on the Import.Wav button, a box will open called Open PCM Wave File. You simply need to locate the PCM Wave File, and click on the file and then click the Open button. This will transport the .wav into your Voice Recorder. The you simply look for the file you have just imported, and double click it, then play into chat.

This is handly for when you have found a funny .wav online from a site that you have saved to your computer, and wish to transport/import into your Voice Recorder.

(And there you go, that is how you use the Import.Wav button, to import .wav's into your Voice Recorder).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Other things that have or have not been mentioned in these tutorials and not explained are the Sound Mixed button and the Display in Room check box. (These are both self explanatory).
The Display in Room check box, is used if you wish to display the .wav file name into the chat room. Simply tick the box and play your recording. If you do not wish to display the name into chat then merely leave it unticked.
The Sound Mixed button, allows you as mentioned before, to change the volume settings within your computer.
I hope all these tutorials have been helpful and may assist you in using the Voice Recorder more effectively, with a better understanding.
Enjoy!
Default Y!Hook Chat Client Tutorials+All here
Windows XP Media Center Edition, Y!Hook Users..., Changing Default Ignore Message...
Download Latest Y!hook from viprasys...[Only registered users can see links. ]
[Only registered users can see links. ]
Okay for those who use "Windows XP Media Center Edition" and have an issue with 'right mouse clicking' your Y!Hook icon in your toolbar/taskbar.
I'm going to try to explain here how you can edit one of the options you can not edit by right mouse clicking...
Your ignore message!, that displays in chat, from the default ignore message to a more personalized message...
First of all CLOSE Y!Hook, make sure it is not in your taskbar... Then Click:
Start...
Run...
Type in: regedit
Now look under the following folders:
+ HKEY_CURRENT_USER
+ Software
+ VB and VBA Program Settings
+ Y!Hook
+ CHAT
Here you will see a few files, with the words "ab" as an icon.. Type: REG_SZ then the Data.. Then look for file... "IGMSG"
IGMSG ... REG_SZ ... <b>#USR#</b> Has Been Placed On Ignore, #CNT#
This is where you need to edit the <b>#USR# <~ section... But you need to keep the <b>#USR#</b> as the #USR# is the person you are putting on ignore and the #CNT# is the number of ignores (a counter), so if you just edit the info in the middle then you should be all good
IGMSG ... REG_SZ ... <b>#USR#</b> Has Been(CHANGE THIS HERE) Placed On Ignore, #CNT#
Now to do this you need to do the following:
Right mouse click the icon "ab" IGMSG
Click Modify
Edit the text line under "Value data:" (Here I would copy and paste this line onto a text file and edit the line, you need to make sure you do not place more than 250 characters... meaning all spaces, brackets, words and symbols, all count as characters... example: <b>#USR#</b> Has Been (is 21 characters with spaces & brackets included) otherwise the ignore message will not save or work or who knows what could happen lol the limit is 250 char's)
Then click OK
Now run your Y!Hook, when you enter chat.. type /settings.. tick the box... "Display Ignore Msg In Chat" and then right mouse click a user in chat and "Ignore Permanently".. and Ta Da!! Poof Ignored with a sexy lil message of your choice
NOTE: Do not Edit other files in your Registry Editor Unless you know what you are doing, as you could cause some issues with some of your programs etc... Also for other Y!Hook users who CAN right mouse click their Y!Hook icon in the taskbar/toolbar you do NOT need to do this, as you can right mouse click and go too "Ignore Message".. for some reason some people who have Windows XP Media Center Edition are having the issue where they can not access Y!Hook by right mouse clicking it..
New Post ALL JAVA PROBLEMS, This is kinda like if all else fails
ALL JAVA PROBLEMS, This is kinda like if all else fails
Java applets not loading? Do you need to update Microsoft Virtual Machine? Yahoo! Chat applets freezing?
This page will guide you step by step on finding the root of the problem, and then solve it!
(1) If the java applet says its unable to run java on your system, or if you get a message about java or active x being disabled, or if the screen stays blank or gray,(2) If you see the following message (or similar)
Unable to load applet.
You may need to download an updated version of the Microsoft VM from:
[Only registered users can see links. ] If your problem does not get solved on this page, please post on our forum, where we will answer asap. This also allows us to target your specific problem.
Problem 1
The cause could be one of two problems, Firstly, you have java disabled, or you don't have a Java Virtual Machine.
It may seem appropriate to set your security at "High" - but this disables Java!!!!
To Enable Java in Internet Explorer:
Tools>>Internet Options, select the "security" tab. Select custom level... so you can over ride the default pre sets. Scroll down to "Microsoft VM", and under Java Permission, if disable java is set, place a check instead by "medium safety". Click OK, OK again, and retry loading a Java Applet.
To Enabled Java in Netscape:
Edit>>Preferences, select the "advanced" option on the left. Ensure a check is placed by "Enable Java" Click OK, and try loading a java applet again.
Now try again to access the Java Applet, if it works, great!!
Problem 2
Two possible issues here, firstly you have no Java Virtual Machine, or secondly you have Sun Java Virtual Machine running.
To disable sun java (try this, even if you don't think you have sun) - it doesn't work with Yahoo! Chat
Tools>>Internet Options, select the "advanced" tab. Scroll down the list until you see "Java (Sun)". Remove the check from "Use Java 2 .... for <applet>".
Click apply. Restart Internet Explorer. Try the applet again, it works, great
Problem 3
If you have tried all the above, it's likely you don't have a Virtual Machine. If you're an XP user, this is highly possible, other users should not have this problem.
Do you have Virtual Machine?
Search your computer for msjava.dll. If it finds it (c:\windows\system or c:\winnt\system (or system32)) then you have virtual machine, if it doesn't:
XP users: You may obtain Java Virtual Machine from Microsoft in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack1
Other users: You should perform your Windows Updates in order to obtain Microsoft Virtual Machine
If it does (and you disabled sun as in stepp2 above):
Yahoo! Users - re install applet
If neither of those fixed it, and you are trying to fix Yahoo! Chat Java, perform the following:
goto C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\
Location, and delete the "Yahoo! Chat" class file.
Re-try Yahoo! Chat.
To see what version java is installed go here
YHook is Windows Vista Compatible, You Will Need To Disable User Account Control(UAC) To Install and Run it.
Note: Disabling UAC will lead to a less secure system, so be warned.
Open up Control Panel, and type in "UAC" into the search box. You'll see a link for "Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off":
On the next screen you should uncheck the box for "Use User Account Control (UAC)", and then click on the OK button.
You'll need to reboot your computer before the changes take effect, but you should be all done with annoying prompts.
You can enable and disable UAC but going to your start panel then click run and input the folling lines to enable or disable.
Disable UAC
Quote:
cmd.exe /k %windir%System32reg.exe ADD HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPolicies System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
Enable UAC
Quote:
cmd.exe /k %windir%System32reg.exe ADD HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPolicies System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
or you can use this little program to do it but you must right click and run it as administrator.
