A 41-year-old teacher was shot dead when he resisted a robbery attempt at his house at Rama Vihar in Outer Delhi in the early hours Sunday. The incident was reported around 1 a.
m. on Sunday when Suresh Kumar was sleeping with his family at their Rama Vihar residence that falls Aman Vihar police station area.
Suresh was shot point bank by one of the robbers whom he had caught while he was fleeing from the scene. "Three armed robbers had entered the house while the family was asleep.
After hearing some sound, Suresh woke up and found the robbers in his house. He rushed and caught hold of one of the robbers.
The robber opened fire on him and fled from the scene," said a senior police officer. Suresh leaves behind his wife and two children aged eleven and seven years.
He used to give private tuitions at home. His wife Renu, also a teacher, told the police that her husband had dispute with some people and they could also be behind the murder.
The police said that the robbers were armed and fled from the scene on foot. Suresh was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
A case of murder has been registered at the Aman Vihar police station. Renu told the police that she woke up after hearing a gun shot and found her husband lying in a pool of blood.
She rushed to the terrace of the house and shouted for help. By the time the neighbours gathered at the scene, the robbers had already fled from the scene.
The police found a country made pistol near the scene of crime after few hours. She informed the police that the robbers entered the house from the terrace.
The police said the robbers could not take any valuables from the house. Investigations were on.
